Senior News Reporter
The Irish Farmers Journal is the largest selling agricultural publication in both Ireland and the UK with 379,400 weekly print readers. Our other titles include The Irish Field, Irish Country Magazine and The Irish Garden.
We are recruiting a Senior News Reporter for the Irish Farmers Journal’s editorial team. This is an exciting opportunity to join our expanding editorial team. Responsibilities will include researching, compiling and writing news stories of importance and interest to farmers, all rural dwellers and agribusiness and editing content for Irish Farmers Journal print and digital products.
Responsibilities include:
- Generating daily news content for farmersjournal.ie and the weekly print edition
- Planning, sourcing, analysing and writing relevant high quality news stories that will be of interest and significance to farm families, rural dwellers and agribusinesses
- Ensuring that all copy produced is reader friendly, fair, accurate and timely
- Editing copy and proof reading as required by the News Editor
- Contributing to the implementation of the Irish Farmers Journal‘s digital strategy, including daily news updates, blogs, podcasts, social media channel management and multimedia content
- Working on supplements and other publications as required
- Ensuring that all agreed deadlines are met
Candidate requirements:
- 4 years+ experience in the agricultural or media industries
- The capacity to recognise and develop strong stories
- Excellent writing skills
- Excellent digital and IT skills
- Excellent knowledge of agricultural industry, both Irish and international
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work to strict deadlines
- Proven research and investigative skills
- Third Level qualification in a related discipline
- Full driving license and own car essential
